# Create Your First Shipment

## Before you start

Complete these first if possible:

1. Connect with at least one provider.
2. Add your shipper organization information.

## Step-by-step instructions

1. Open chrt and go to **Orders**.
2. Create a new draft order. If the start panel appears, click
   **Open Draft Order**.
3. In **Order Setup**, choose the **Operator Organization** that will run the
   shipment.
4. Enter the shipment reference.
5. In **Cargo**, add the package description and any required cargo details.
6. In **Segments**, add the movement details for the shipment.
7. In **Stops**, enter the pickup and delivery locations.
8. In **Scheduling**, add the requested timing if your team has it.
9. In **Preview & Submit**, review the shipment and click
   **Validate & Submit Order**.

## How to know it worked

The shipment should appear in the Orders list. The provider should be visible on
the order detail page.

## If something looks different

* If no provider is available, connect with a provider first.
* If the address cannot be found, enter the full street address, city, state,
  and ZIP code.
* If the shipment stays as a draft, look for a final submit or dispatch button.
