Drivers

Manage your driver roster, profiles, availability, and live locations on the map.

The Drivers page is your roster of every team member who can run jobs through the chrt driver app. From here you invite new drivers, configure each driver’s defaults (rate sheet, vehicle, availability), and view where active drivers are on the live map. This page walks the list, the profile, and the map.

Before you start

  • Adding a driver follows the same flow as adding any organization member — see Add an organization member. Give them the Member role and they’ll get a driver app deep link in the invite email.
  • Driver invites send a real email — make sure the address is right before you send.

1. Open the drivers list

Open chrt.com/drivers. The page shows every organization member in your org plus their driver status. Columns include:

  • Name and avatar.
  • Role (Owner, Admin, Member, Driver).
  • Status — Active driver, Available now, Unavailable.
  • Contact — email, phone.
  • Rate sheets — the driver’s default PPD rate sheet, if one is set.
  • Last seen — when the driver app last reported in.

Filter the list with the status dropdown (All, Active drivers, Available, Unavailable) and search by name, email, or phone. The view is URL-persisted, so a filtered list can be bookmarked or shared with dispatch.

2. Toggle availability

Drivers can mark themselves available/unavailable in their app, and dispatchers can override from the list.

  1. On a driver row, open the availability popover.
  2. Pick Available or Unavailable.
  3. Save. The change reflects immediately in the assign-driver dialog — unavailable drivers sort below available ones but stay assignable.

Use availability for medium-term changes (sick day, day off, equipment issue). For permanent role changes use Team settings — the Configure team settings button at the bottom of the list deep-links there.

3. Open a driver profile

Click any row to open the profile at /drivers/<user-id>. The profile is the single place to manage a driver’s chrt setup. Sections:

  • Driver form — name, email, phone, vehicle, license. Edits save inline.
  • Default rate sheets — pick which provider-pay-driver rate sheet should preselect when you dispatch this driver. See Rate sheets for creating PPD sheets.
  • Driver status card — current availability, last seen, and recent activity.

4. Set a default rate sheet on a driver

Setting a default PPD rate sheet for a driver makes dispatch faster — the assign-driver dialog preselects it automatically when you pick that driver.

  1. On the driver’s profile, open the Default rate sheets section.
  2. Pick the rate sheet that should preselect for this driver (or pick No default to leave the dispatch dialog blank).
  3. Save.

From the next dispatch onward, opening the assign-driver dialog and selecting this driver will preselect the rate sheet you saved. You can still override it on a per-job basis.

5. View drivers on the live map

Open chrt.com/drivers/map (or the map tab on the drivers page). The map shows every driver whose app is currently reporting a location.

  • Avatar pins — each driver is a marker with their avatar. Clustered when zoomed out.
  • Driver info panel — click a pin to see the driver’s current status, last-known speed, and any active task group.
  • Fly-to — clicking a driver pans and zooms the map to their location.

The map only shows drivers whose phone is reporting a location through the driver app. Drivers off-shift, with location turned off, or with the app force-closed don’t appear. See Tracking for how driver location ingestion works.

How to know it worked

  • An invited driver appears in the list once they accept the invite and finish onboarding in the driver app.
  • Availability changes reflect immediately in the assign-driver dialog sort order.
  • Default rate sheet changes preselect the next time you dispatch the driver.
  • A driver running an active job shows on the map with their avatar pin.

If something looks different

  • An invited driver isn’t in the list. They haven’t accepted the invite yet. Check the Pending invites view in Team settings.
  • A driver shows as Active but never appears on the map. Check the driver app on their phone — background location may be off, or the app may be force-closed. iOS and Android have different background-location permissions; see App settings in the driver-app docs.
  • The default rate sheet dropdown is empty. You have no active provider-pay-driver rate sheets. Create one — see Rate sheets.
  • Removing a driver from your org. Use Team settings rather than the drivers list — removing an org member is permanent. The drivers list is for status and config only.
  • Contact hi@chrt.com if a driver’s profile or location looks wrong.
  • Add an organization member — the invite flow that adds a driver to your org.
  • Dispatching — assign a driver to an order.
  • Rate sheets — create the PPD rate sheets you set as driver defaults.
  • Billing — see line items roll up into driver pay statements.
  • Roles — what the Member, Admin, and Driver roles can do.
