Create Your First Shipment

Learn how to create a shipment and choose the provider that will run it.

Before you start

Complete these first if possible:

  1. Connect with at least one provider.
  2. Add your shipper organization information.

Step-by-step instructions

  1. Open chrt and go to Orders.
  2. Create a new draft order. If the start panel appears, click Open Draft Order.
  3. In Order Setup, choose the Operator Organization that will run the shipment.
  4. Enter the shipment reference.
  5. In Cargo, add the package description and any required cargo details.
  6. In Segments, add the movement details for the shipment.
  7. In Stops, enter the pickup and delivery locations.
  8. In Scheduling, add the requested timing if your team has it.
  9. In Preview & Submit, review the shipment and click Validate & Submit Order.

How to know it worked

The shipment should appear in the Orders list. The provider should be visible on the order detail page.

If something looks different

  • If no provider is available, connect with a provider first.
  • If the address cannot be found, enter the full street address, city, state, and ZIP code.
  • If the shipment stays as a draft, look for a final submit or dispatch button.
