Create and Assign an Order
Learn how to create a delivery order and assign it to a driver.
Before you start
Complete these first if possible:
- Invite at least one driver.
- Add the customer.
- Set up a basic rate sheet if your team uses rate sheets.
Step-by-step instructions
- Open chrt and go to Orders.
- Create a new draft order. If the start panel appears, click Open Draft Order.
- In Order Setup, choose the Shipper Organization and enter the reference number.
- In Cargo, add the package description and any required cargo details.
- In Segments, add the movement details for the order.
- In Stops, enter the pickup and delivery locations.
- In Scheduling, add the requested timing if your team has it.
- In Preview & Submit, review the order and click Validate & Submit Order.
- Open the order detail page.
- Click Assign Driver.
- In Assign Driver to Order, choose an available driver and click Assign Driver.
How to know it worked
The order should appear in the Orders list. The driver assignment should be visible on the order detail page or in the order timeline.
If something looks different
- If the customer is missing, add the customer first.
- If no driver is available, invite a driver first or save the order as a draft.
- If the address cannot be found, try entering the street address, city, state, and ZIP code separately.
