Add a Customer

Learn how to add an off-platform customer before creating their orders.

Before you start

Use this guide when your customer is not already connected to you in chrt. This is useful for existing customers who still place orders by phone, email, or text.

Step-by-step instructions

  1. Open chrt and go to Connections.
  2. Click Add Off Platform Shipper.
  3. In Add New Off-Platform Shipper, enter the company name.
  4. Enter the primary email address.
  5. Add the contact name, phone number, job title, industry, street address, or notes if you have them.
  6. Check the spelling of the company name and primary email address.
  7. Click Create Connection.

How to know it worked

The customer should appear in your Connections list. You should be able to select this customer when creating a new order.

If something looks different

  • If you only see connected organizations, stay on Connections and use the add button in the page header.
  • If the customer already exists, open the existing customer instead of creating a duplicate.
  • If the save button is disabled, check for missing required fields.
